Sport is a great outlet for stress, and an excellent way to create a life for youself outside of the workplace.
You can partake in Sport on any level, for purely recreational purposes, as a simple means of getting and staying fit, or as a means towards accomplishmet and achievement, if you’re of the competitive, “born winner” persuasion! You can partake in Sport on an individual level, ie Golf, Tennis, Martial Arts etc. or as part of a team. Sport is also a great means of developing skills and values in Children and Adults alike.

5 good reasons to be involved in Sports, for fun or as a career.
- Any healthy activity is a big plus, for children and adults alike. Laying the foundation for a physically active life is one of the great benefits of early participation in Sport. Sport induces values and discipline, as well as aiding physical development.
- Participation in Sport develops skills. Learning how to chase a ball, swing a bat, take a shot, or walk a balance beam develops skills such as co-ordination, balance etc. Physical and mental skills are formed as young athletes learn drills and strategies for their chosen sport.
- Being on a team teaches a group dynamic. Learning to be part of a team requires thinking outside of oneself. This necessary skill has far reaching effects off the laying field. The description “team-player” is extremely important when assessing successful work attributes.
- Athletes learn self-discipline. Self discipline is inherent in all forms of sport, either individual or team-based. Through slef-discipline we learn how to push ourselves to achieve higher standards. Self discipline in a team-based sport often involves foregoing personal glory for the greater good of the team.
- Sport provides an opportunity for fun. Let’s not forget the fun part. There’s great fun to be had from the thrill of sport at all levels, whether it be derived from “winning” or just from the joy of taking part, or merely having a laugh with friends outside of the workplace.
Try to avoid this!!
