What is Meditation?
Everybody has an opinion on the definition of meditation but, in summing them all up, the common agreement is that meditation is a mental discipline, more commonly referred to as a holistic discipline. The art of meditation is the acquiring of the skill set which trains your mind to reach a state of calm in order to realise some benefit. Meditation is generally a subjective, personal experience and most often done without any external involvement, the exception to which can be the aid of prayer beads to count prayers. People practice meditation for lots of different reasons within the context of their culture and society, so it’s literally for Everybody.

What’s the process?
Learning meditation is a process of self-discovery, generating integration between the body, mind and spirit. Focusing completely on your breathing is designed to takes your mind away from the "mind clutter" that consistently clutters life. The first step is to think of nothing, and believe it or not, with practice, this does occur. The next step is the goal of attaining peace, serenity and calmness. When this occurs your lessons are paying dividends, and as so many fans of this discipline have said, “the more practice the more reward.”
Give me some good reasons to try it!
There are literally thousands of recorded benefits of Meditation but in brief they can be categorised in three fundamental areas and can lean more heavily in any direction depending on your personal goals. The Physiological benefits can include lowering oxygen consumption, decreasing the respiratory rate, and increasing blood circulation whilst slowing the heart rate. The Psychological benefits can include increased self-confidence with an increase in the serotonin level which influences mood and behaviour. Good meditation can even resolve phobias & fears. Finally they can also be the Spiritual benefits of putting things in perspective, stimulating peace of mind and inducing those very welcome feelings of happiness.
