What is Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic therapy in which pressure is applied to specific reflex points predominantly on the feet, hands, and ears but also on the scalp, face, nose, tongue, neck, back, arms, wrists, abdomen and legs. Reflexology assumes that the entire body is sensitively connected to these reflex points and it is believed that the pressure which can be applied to these areas can beneficially affect more distant / remote internal organs.

Reflexology Video
Be very clear….
Reflexologists do not diagnose illnesses. Doctors do that! You go to your Reflexologist to help treat a problem. Their job is to find the congestions in the reflexes and get rid of those congestions by activating your natural re-balancing system through specific reflexology techniques.
Why the Foot?
Foot reflexology has long been regarded as an effective way to treat pain of any kind. One reason why it is so effective is that your foot has over 7,000 nerve endings and that makes it super sensitive and makes your body super responsive, and reflexology can trigger your brain to respond by releasing endorphins into the region of pain. It can also improve the circulation in the area of discomfort, therefore enhancing your body's ability to recover more quickly.
Where did it start?
The most common theory is that Reflexology therapy originated in China approximately 5000 years ago. The Ancient Chinese definitely used pressure points on the feet for healing the whole body. BUT,,,, Several age old drawings have turned up from other parts of Asia (India, Japan and china) showing diagrams of healing through the use of pressure points at the feet and hands, but enough about who gets all the royalties, as long as today’s magnificent Reflexologists get all the credit for making You feel better !
How long is a treatment?
On average a session with a reflexologist takes between 45mins and one hour. Then depending on the severity of your condition, a course might take one session per week up to 6 weeks. Beyond that, your reflexologist will usually take a two week break or in some cases thereafter engage a brand new association point if the primary link point is not achieving the desired results. One of the best ways of gauging the value of your treatment is to regularly inform your therapist during the session about any sensations which occur on the focus point or otherwise During the session.
