Spanish is a romance language which has its’ roots in Latin, but which also contains some Moor and Castillon influences. The vast geographic span of the Spanish language as a native tongue is due to the growth of the Spanish Colonial Empire, which reached particulalrly into Central and South America. Spanish is one of the 6 official languages of the United Nations.
